Steven is easy to miss if you played Egg Kevin’s House in May 2023, grabbed Pacifist, and left. He is the third of the adult filming crew, the pair of headphones on the Fun Dungeon floor, and the person behind the ??? door. TinyTales added that door on 7 May 2023. When Steven is on screen
He is not in the 2003 prologue. He does not exist yet as a plot device while the eggs are in the air. After the twenty-year jump he arrives with ideas about content. Night 1–2 he is part of the trio. Night 3 he is gone. You go downstairs because Billy will not call anyone. You pick up headphones. Kevin hits you. That is most of Steven’s “gameplay”: an absence plus an item.
He is excluded from Inadvertent Hero (the plot never reaches filming) and from a successful Future Firefighter (no time skip). If a status card omits him, you probably aborted the adult story.
The hostage
Kevin uses Steven to pull the other two into the basement. Community pages list Steven as hostage, not as rival. Kevin does not stage a rescue for him when the second fire starts. That cruelty is the point of ???: you assemble a key the game had been hiding in crows and fridges, open a door, and find Steven still tied while flames move. The card may stamp him Alive. The camera does not let you cut his ropes. To Be Continued is the last line TinyTales has shipped for him as of the January 2026 place update.
If you knife Kevin, the door does not pay off. If you leave Billy, it does not pay off. The all endings matrix is strict here on purpose.
Theories you can ignore while still 100%ing
Comments love “Steven is Kevin.” The playable nights treat them as two bodies in two rooms. Coolzak’s teaser art has shown Kevin with Steven; that is marketing, not a shapeshift mechanic. Play the fragments. Do not wait for a code that reveals a twist: codes are empty. Do not inject a noclip to skip the crow: scripts.
How to play “for Steven”
- Help egg (after the crow, if you want piece one on the same file).
- Follow the walkthrough with the five spots from the ??? guide.
- Save Billy, spare Kevin.
- Watch the door. Then decide if that board is S-tier for you on the endings list.

Steven is not a secret playable. Server size is still 1. You will not queue with him. You can only stop leaving him behind the unlabeled door.
If a 2023 compilation never names him, that is expected: headphones-only coverage predates the May fragment patch. Cross-check the changelog before you assume TinyTales deleted a friend. He is still the reason the fridge, tree, TV, and box exist as a scavenger hunt rather than flavor dressing.
