Margaret — Egg Kevin's House
She never gets a status row of her own. The whole revenge is about whether she lives.
Margaret is Kevin’s mother. She is not playable, not a Night 3 hostage, and not on the four-name status card that prints Billy, Kevin, Steven, and Sam. She is still the reason the title exists. The candle on the windowsill, the scream during the prologue fire, the news tape, and the entire adult Kevin arc are about her.
This page collects what the other articles only mention in passing. How to save her as a named ending: Future Firefighter. How the fire starts if you do nothing heroic: getting started. Why Kevin tapes his glasses and waits twenty years: Kevin.
Where she appears
Prologue fire. If you help Billy egg, or if you refuse and still fail to run in, the house goes up. Margaret is inside. You hear her. You do not get a drag prompt unless you commit to the firefighter interrupt.
Future Firefighter. Refuse the eggs, then run into the house when the candle falls anyway. You get a QTE: male Sam hits three keys at once, female Sam hits a sequence, mobile uses taps. Success: you pull her out, news calls Sam a hero, Billy is arrested for the fire, Kevin never becomes the Fun Dungeon adult. Fail: burns, and you can still fall into the twenty-year revenge without the badge.
Inadvertent Hero. You never let the eggs fly. You rock Billy. There is no fire. Margaret lives off-screen. Kevin mentions her as saved because Sam stopped the prank. That is a different save from firefighter — no QTE, no news hero tape.
Every basement file. She is already dead. Kevin’s speeches treat Billy as the killer of his mother. You cannot retroactively drag her out of 2003 from Night 3. ??? does not resurrect her. Pacifist does not. The secret ending is Steven’s door, not hers.
Why there is no “Team Margaret” badge
TinyTales ships firefighter as the Margaret award. There is no extra badge for standing on the lawn. Rescued and Perished are about Sam in the second fire, not her in the first. Do not wait for a code that unlocks a mother cutscene. Codes are empty. Changelog last named board is firefighter on 5 August 2024; the January 2026 listing bump did not add a Margaret sequel.
Nurse Adams shows in Rescued. A reporter shows on firefighter. Those are one-scene roles. They are not Margaret with a new mesh.
How she changes other characters
Kevin’s cruelty toward Steven is easier to hate once you remember Steven did not light the candle. Kevin still uses him as bait because the revenge stopped being proportional in the Fun Dungeon. Billy’s gum-in-hair prank is petty. Margaret’s death is the disproportion. Sam’s knife choice is whether that disproportion gets a second body.
If you are ranking boards on the endings tier list, firefighter and Inadvertent Hero are the two files where she lives. Everything else is a eulogy with extra steps.
Practical hunter note
You cannot farm Margaret on a Pacifist reset. Start a dedicated file. Practice the QTE on controls. If three simultaneous keys are miserable, pick female Sam or mobile. Then go back to basement badges. Mix her save into a Speedrunner attempt only if you already beat 8:30 on Pacifist — the QTE is a time tax and Speedrunner does not require her.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for endings, badges, and first-run choices.
Is Margaret playable?
No. You can save her in Future Firefighter or keep her alive via Inadvertent Hero.
Does ??? save Margaret?
No. ??? is Steven's door after she is already gone. Secret ending.
Why isn't she on the status card?
The card prints the ghost-hunt cast. Her fate is written in 2003, before that card exists.
Male or female Sam to save her?
Female Sam's QTE is sequential and easier for most keyboards. Details: controls.
